We had a very successful visit to the Museum last week and Mary had organised a special conducted tour for us to look at a number of carefully selected paintings. Ann gave her ususal very graphic descriptions for us and we almost completed the tour, just running out of time before we reached to paintings by women.
After the painting exhibition, we went to the big picture show. This brought back many memories for most of us.
I spent most of my primary school years in an air raid shelter, living just 20 miles from London.
My father and an older sister both worked in London and I can remember the underground stations lined by bunks of slatted benches, which was where many Londoners spent their nights with their families.
The Museum very kindly sent me a copy of their catalogue of this exhibition and if anybody would like to receive a copy, I would be happy to email it to them.
Mary organised an elegant refreshment of biscuits, tea and coffee after our tour which I am sure we all enjoyed.
Our thanks to the curator and all members of the Museum for looking after us so well.
